Pattern on Pattern on Pattern on Pattern

Patterns are amazing. But all too often we build a world of solids with a “pop” of pattern. I say let’s reverse this paradigm. I love the idea of making a whole field of patterns and then overlaying the details with more pattern.

Pattern in a cacophony has been a constant language in both fashion and art for years now; Mickalene Thomas is the reining queen of this aesthetic. But its rare that interiors are designed with this kind of crazy abandon. Interiors need to be a thing to make us smile and laugh! Fun is the American vernacular, and I cannot think of anything more spatially fun than patterns on top of patterns.
